| Background and Objective: Some patients have agitation and(or) throat painwith various stimulation factors during general anesthesia recovery period. Severecases can cause significant harm to patients. Dexmedetomidine(Dex),the new, highly selectiveα2adrenergic receptor(α2AR)agonist, has dose-dependent sedation, analgesia, anti-anxiety, inhibition of the sympathetic nerve and brain protection role,no breathing inhibition, excited the central nervous systemα2receptor which is themost intensive areas-brainstem locus coeruleus (responsible for the mediation ofarousal and sleep), triggering and maintaining the natural non-rapid-eye-movementsleep (NREM) state, similar to physiological sleep that easy to wake up,fewer sideeffects. This study aimed to compare the effect of prevention of agitation and throatpain between with dexmedetomidine and without dexmedetomidine. It can providereference and basis for improving the safety and comfort of general anesthesia.Methods:114patients underwent endotracheal intubation general anesthesiaoperation therapy were selected in Shanghai8thhospital from June2013to December2013.They all accept following abdominal operation. They were divided intoobservation group and control group with57cases in each group by random numbertable method. Two groups were treated with the same drug of general anesthesia, theobservation group in operation before the end of half an hour intravenous infusion ofdexmedetomidine, while the control group with intravenous infusion of0.9%sodium chloride injection of the same volume. The incidence of agitation, patients withspontaneous breathing recovery time and extubation time, and postoperative sorethroat were compared between both groups. The data were analyzed by t-test andChi-square test. Results: Compared with restoration of spontaneous breathing time, extubationtime of the two groups, the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Inthe postoperative agitation, the observation group0of the53cases, agitation rate was7.02%; the control group0of the34cases, agitation rate of40.35%. The observationgroup was significantly lower than the control group agitation (P <0.05). In thepostoperative sore throat, the observation group0of the46cases, throat pain rate was19.30%; the control group0of the30cases, throat pain rate was47.37%. Theobservation group throat pain rate was significantly lower than that of control group(P <0.05).Conclusion: Dexmedetomidine has a good preventive effect on agitation aftergeneral anesthesia and the throat pain, also did not increase the risk of respiratorydepression and recovery time, worth in clinical application. |
