Objective:The purpose of this study was to research the expression of B7-H4in ovarianepithelial tumour and its association with clinical pathology characteristic of ovarianepithelial carcinoma.Methods:Immunohistochemistry methods were used to detect the expression of B7-H4in70patients with ovarian epithelial carcinoma (including41cases of ovarian serouscystadenocarcinoma,11cases of ovarian mucous cystadenocarcinoma,9cases ofovarian endometrioid carcinoma,9cases of ovarian clear cell carcinoma).30casesof ovarian benign epithelial tumor and10cases of normal ovarian tissue which wereincluded as control groups.Results:①The positive expression rate of B7-H4in epithelial ovarian carcinoma was84.3%, in ovarian benign epithelial tumor was23.3%, and in normal ovarian tissue,it showed negative expression.②The positive expression rate of B7-H4in epithelialovarian cancer was significantly higher than in ovarian benign epithelial tumor,there was significant difference (p<0.05).③The positive expression rate of B7-H4inepithelial ovarian carcinoma significantly higher than in normal ovarian tissue, thereis significant difference (p<0.05).④The positive expression rate of B7-H4in stageI,stage II,stage III,stage IV epithelial ovarian carcinoma was68.8%,was75%,was91.4%,and100%.The positive expression rate of B7-H4in stage III epithelialovarian carcinoma was significantly higher than that in stage I, there was significantdifference (p<0.05). The positive expression rate of B7-H4in stage IV epithelial ovarian carcinoma was higher than that in stage I, there was no significant difference(p>0.05).⑤The positive expression rate of B7-H4in epithelial ovarian carcinomaearly group (phase I and phase II) was71.4%,in advanced group (phase III and IVperiod) was92.9%, and there are significant difference between the twogroups(p<0.05).The positive expression rate of B7-H4in middle-late group ovarianepithelial carcinoma was significantly higher than in early group ovarian epithelialcancer, there was significant difference (p<0.05).⑥The positive expression rate ofB7-H4in high, medium differentiation group (G1and G2) of ovarian epithelialcarcinoma was67.6%,in low differentiation group (G3) of ovarian epithelialcarcinoma was100%, and there were significant difference between the twogroups(p<0.05). The positive expression rate of B7-H4in low differentiation groupovarian epithelial carcinoma was significantly higher than in high and middledifferentiation group ovarian epithelial carcinoma, there was significant difference(p<0.05).⑦The positive expression rate of B7-H4in ovarian serouscystadenocarcinoma was100%, in ovarian endometrioid carcinoma was77.8%, inovarian clear cell carcinoma was88.9%,and the positive expression rate of B7-H4inovarian mucus cystadenocarcinoma was(27.3%) which was significantly lower thanin ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma, ovarian endometrioid carcinoma and ovarianclear cell carcinoma, there was significant difference (p<0.05).Conclussion:The positive expression rate of B7-H4in epithelial ovarian carcinoma wassignificantly higher than that in ovarian benign epithelial tumor and normal ovariantissue. And the positive expression of B7-H4in ovarian epithelial carcinoma wasrelated to pathological type, pathological staging and pathologic stage. B7-H4canmay be regarded as a new marker used for ovarian cancer diagnosis.
