Meta-analysis Of Pulsatilla Decoction In The Treatment Of Ulcerative Colitis

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety evaluation of Pulsatilla Decoction for ulcerative colitis.Methods:Accodding to the systematic review method on Cochrane, we searched all the randomized controlled trials(RCT) from VIP Chinese Science and Technology Academic Journal (VIP)、The China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Wanfang dissertations database, extracting data, and then using the RevMan5.1software for data analysis.Results:12RCTS were included, including1480cases of ulcerative colitis. The qualities of these RCTs rated by Jadad score were low. The Meta-analysis results show:Pulsatilla Decoction can improve the total efficiency of the treatment of ulcerative colitis, the difference was statistically significant [RR=1.23,95%CI (1.18,1.29), P<0.00001], can increase the proportion of patients with ulcerative colitis for the best outcomethe difference was statistically significant [RR=1.60,95%CI (1.29,1.98), P<0.0001], Pulsatilla Decoction in the treatment of ulcerative colitis incidence of adverse reactions is lower than conventional western medicine control group.Conclusions:According to existing studies show:Pulsatilla Decoction treatment of ulcerative colitis compared with conventional western medicine can improve the total efficiency and can increase the proportion of the best treatment outcome; Pulsatilla Decoction treatment of ulcerative colitis lead to a lower incidence of adverse reactions, the security may be higher; However, this evidence is not enough because of qualities limit of these studies and the presence of potential publication bias affected the reliability of the conclusions of the need for high-quality large sample, multi-center randomized controlled clinical trials, and the use of uniform diagnostic and efficacy standards, which provide conclusive clinical evidence for of Pulsatilla Decoction and other TCM treatment of ulcerative colitis.
