ObjectivePercutaneous nephrolithotomy is a preferred minimally invasive way for the treatmentof renal calculi. Simultaneous bilateral percutaneous nephrolithotomy can quickly relievethe obstruction and protect kidney function, playing an increasingly important role fortreatment of bilateral complex renal calculi. In this study, we analyzed the complications ofSimultaneous bilateral percutaneous nephrolithotomy and compared with that of unilateralpercutaneous nephrolithotomy.MethodThe prospective study enrolled50patients underwent Simultaneous bilateralpercutaneous nephrolithotomy and100patients underwent unilateral percutaneousnephrolithotomy under the guide of B ultrasound.(The each group has100kidneysrespectively.) We recorded and compared the intraoperative and postoperativecomplications of two groups. SPSS18.0software was used for the analyses. First, wecompared the general information of the two groups, t-test was used for measurement dataand chi-square test was used for enumeration data, we compared the balance of the twogroups and the complications of the two groups.ResultsBetween two groups, the differences of patient gender, age, BMI, stone location, duration were insignificant (P>0.05, not significant). The Complications: hemorrhageduring operation:16sides in Unilateral group,3cases terminated surgery due to severebleeding.10sides in Bilateral group,2cases terminated surgery due to severe bleeding.Postoperative bleeding:4sides in Unilateral group,2sides received subselective intrarenalembolization intraoperative;3sides in Bilateral group,1sides received subselectiveintrarenal embolization. Transfusion:9cases in Unilateral group;4cases in Bilateral group.Pyrexia:18cases in Unilateral group,8cases in Bilateral group. Infection:23cases in Unilateral group,12cases in Bilateral group. Channel lost:2cases in Unilateral group,1cases in Bilateral group.Perforation:2cases in Unilateral group,1cases in Bilateralgroup.Lliquid leakage:4cases in Unilateral group,5cases in Bilateral group. Residualstones:14cases in Unilateral group,16cases in Bilateral group. Analysis shows that all theabove complications have no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05, notsignificant).ConclusionsThe complications of the bilateral group is the same as that of the unilateral group.Ourstudy demonstrated that synchronous bilateral percutaneous nephrolithotomy is a safe andefficient way for the treatment of bilateral renal calculi.
