Play asupporting role in clinical combined with chemical drugs.This experiment will be on this basis．further research combines with Huaiergranules and thalidomide treatment mechanism of action of hepatocellular carcinoma.Objective：To investigate the mechanism of Thalidomide and granules of Huaier，a parasiticfungus on pagodatree．in treating liver cancer．Methods：The male of Kunming mice were randomly divided into controlled group(groupA)，Huaier granules group group)(B，Thalidomide group(group C)，Huaier granules+Thalidomide group(group D)(one group consist of10mice)．The tumor-bearingmodel was induced by subcutaneous injection of H22cells in mice．The mass oftransplanted tumor and inhibitionrate of tumor in all groups were observed．Theexpression of VEGF and CD31protein was assayed using immunohistochemiealmethod．Results：Compared with those in control group，the mass of transplanted tumor tissue andthe positive rate of CD31protein in three treated groups were significantly decreased (P＜0．01)．Compared with those in controlled group，the positive rate of VEGF proteinin the Huaier granules and Thalidomide group were significantly decreased (P＜0．01)．Compared with those in Huaier granules group and Thalidomide group，themass of tumor tissue and the positive rate of CD31protein in Huaier granules+Thalidomide group was very significantly decreased (P＜0.05)。Conclusion：Huaier granules and Thalidomide have marked antitumor effect；The mechanismmight be related with its promoting the apoptosis of tumor cells by the down regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor protein and the down regulation of microvesseldensity．Promote tumor cell apoptosis; And both have synergy.
