Objective To evaluate the preliminary efficacy using Nano-hydroxyapatite polyamide66cage (n-HA/PA66Cage) composites for reconstruction following anterior cervical intervertebral discectomy and fusion in cervical spondylosis. Methods We performed a retrospective study of patients (46cases), with cervical spondylopathy who underwent anterior cervical intervertebral discectomy and fusion between June2008and June2011. Cervical pathologies included cervial spondylotic myelopathy and cervical radiculopathy. All patients were assessed clinically and radiologically. Clinical outcome was evaluated using Odom’s criteria, radiology result included subsidence of the cages, the angle of cervical lordosis, the fusion rate and interspace height. Results The group achieved an80%rate of successful clinical outcomes, all the cases graft fusion achieved, No displacement and subsidence occurred. There was significant difference between preoperation and6monthes after operation in angle of cervical lordosis (2.29±3.04°vs.8.04±3.06°, P<0.05), and the last follow-up showed6.58±2.35°, the mean loss of angle of cervical lordosis was1.45±1.96°. There was significant difference between preoperation and6monthes after operation in interspace height (7.76±0.55mm vs.4.40±1.36mm, P<0.05), and the last follow-up showed7.36±0.59mm, the mean loss of interspace height was0.41±0.28mm.Conclusions The n-HA/PA66cage can provide early effectively clinical outcome, and effectively maintain the biological alignment and cervical intervertebral height as well as hight fusion rate...
