| Objective:Based on the analysis of the reference literature about the midwifery professional continuing education, this study investigated the educational status and needs of99midwifery professionals in Huaihua City to find the overall situation awareness and demand for continuing education courses, and provide an empirical basis for midwifery continuing education practice; explore the development of midwifery professional continuing education countermeasures for the future development of the midwifery professional education.Methods:The survey was carried out in five general hospitals in Huaihua City during May-August2012, and the obtained data was analyzed by SPSS13.0software.Statistical analysis of measurement data use the mean±standard deviation for statistical description when count data using the percentage of statistical description.Results:In this study,112questionnaires were send out and99copies of valid questionnaires were received, the effective rate is88.39%. All99midwifery professionals were female, age23-51years old, mean age (35.5±3.2) years old; including13midwives,35charge midwives,36competent midwife,15deputy director of the midwifery Division;18has3years’work experience,30have3-10years’work experience,51have10years’experience; no one has bachelor degree in first education in99midwifery staff, college degree accounted for16.16%, secondary accounted for83.84%.Only15.15%staff have senior professional titles, about71.71percent are in primary and intermediate grade;12.12%staff did not get the technical qualifications of the maternal and child health; All midwifery professionals believe Chinese medicine nursing courses is not required;96.97%think the cesarean should belong to the understanding training courses; All of them believe midwifery professional education innovation is very important, expectations of midwifery professional continuing education courses to the creation of knowledge about maternal and infant health care law and other related laws and regulations content.Conclusion:1. The midwifery professionals overall educational level is low in Huaihua City, they have strong demand for continuing education to ensure the safety of the mother-and-child.2. Midwifery professionals have different needs of midwifery professional continuing education curriculum, the midwifery technology training and training projects; midwifery continuing education should reflect the practicality and innovation.3. Midwifery professional continuing education should improve awareness of the importance of continuing education of staff, and hospitals and continuing education departments should establish a continuing education network to promote midwifery professionals to participate in continuing education training, so as to promote the development of midwifery. |
