Objective: To accumulate the information in the long-term studies ofthe variation of the limb segments length, circumference and proportion inthe process of growth and development of children, we have Measuredsitting height, arm span, forearm length and circumference, upper armlength and circumference, lower leg length and calf circumference ofchildren and adolescents aged6-17years in Chongqing, summarized theiraverage levels, calculated extremities-trunk ratio and body proportions,analysed their age trend.Methods: The datas was measured in4715cases aged6-17years inChongqing, including standing height, weight, sitting height, arm span,forearm length and circumference, upper arm length and circumference,lower leg length and calf circumference, calculated their average levels andratios, observed their age trends.Results: We obtained the values’ average levels, finded the highcorrelation of sitting height, forearm length, upper arm length, arm span,lower leg length with standing height, and forearm circumference, upper arm circumference, calf circumference with weight and BMI, the correlationcoefficient r is all above0.87(P<0.05). With the growth of age, the ratiosof forearm length, upper arm length, arm span, lower leg length to standingheight increased, while the forearm length/upper arm length showed adownward trend(P<0.05). Body proportion rebounded slightly after thefirst gradual decline trend with age, gender difference was not obviousbefore the age of11, while males smaller than females after11-year-old(P<0.05).Conclusions: Sitting height, arm span, forearm length andcircumference, upper arm length and circumference, lower leg length andcalf circumference and their ratio present regular changes with the growth ofage. Limb segments length and height have a good correlation.
