| Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrinedisease for women after menarche, and about6%to8%of women ofreproductive age have this disease worldwide. Hyperandrogenism(HA)isone of the most important features of polycystic ovary syndrome. So, tobetter diagnose PCOS, we must rule out other diseases which can lead tohyperandrogenism. In this paper, several major diseases which can lead tohyperandrogenism are described and distinguished with PCOS. Thesediseases are: Congenital Adrenel Hyperplasia (CAH), Cushing’s syndrome,androgen-secreting tumors, hyperprolactinemia, Ovarian Hyperthecosis andhypothyroidism. And we also briefly discuss the treatment of polycysticovary syndrome. |
