A Pilot Study And Evaluation Of A Nutritional Science Intervention Activity By Medical College Students On Nutrition Education Among Primary And Secondary School Students | Posted on:2014-12-10 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:W J Zhou | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2254330425453658 | Subject:Epidemiology and Health Statistics | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | PART ONE ANALYSIS OF INVESTIGATION ON NUTRITIONAND FOOD SAFETY KNOELEDGE, ATTITUDE ANDPRACTICE IN TWO PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLSTUDENTS IN CHONGQING CITYObjectives: To obtain the cognition and behavior of primary andsecondary students on nutrition and food safety in Chongqing, providebaseline data for the future nutrition and food safety intervention educationto the students. Methods: Self-designed questionnaire was conducted among allstudents of grade5and6in primary school and all students of grade1and2in secondary school in Chongqing as the respondents. an in-depthinterviews were held in1-2students by every class. After the investigation,The baseline questionnaires data were checked carefully before entered intodatabase of Epi-data3.1software, and used SAS8.2to analyze the data.Thequalitative data used MAXqda10.0software and the framework method to analyze. Results: Among1058school students investigated, The total scoresamong school students was8.59±3.05, as only27.60%. The middle schoolstudents had better understanding of health nutrition knowledge thanprimary students, and the differences between them was staticallysignificant (u=4.41, P<0.01).74.35%primary students and53.42%middleschool students had their breakfast every day, The primary students hadbreakfast times higher than the middle school students, and the differencesbetween them was statically significant(χ~2=58.85, P<0.01). only29.08%primary students and15.85%middle school students expressed concernfrequently, The primary students on food safety concerns was higher thanthe middle school students, and the differences between them was staticallysignificant(χ~2=31.57, P<0.01).Conclusions: Redundant prepuce might be the impact factors forunwilling to accept male circumcision. We should establish ways topublicize and extend male circumcision according to the characters of drugaddicts and the impact factors hindering male circumcision. PART TWO THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A NUTRITIONALSCIENCE INTERVENTION EXPERIENCE BY MEDICALCOLLEDGE STUDENTS ON NUTRITION AND FOODSAFETY COGNITION PRIMARY AND SECONDARYSCHOOL STUDENTSObjective: To evaluate the instant and long-term effectiveness ofnutrition science experience by medical college students nutritionassociation in primary and secondary school campus, and to explore themost effective model of nutrition intervention. Methods: With stratified cluster sampling, all students of grade5and6in one primary school and all students of grade1and2in one middleschool in Chongqing were selected, and randomly divided into interventiongroup(n=501) and control group(n=522). Baseline data of all the studentswere investigated before intervention. Effect evaluation was performedinstantly and nine months later(n=472), respectively after the nutritionscience intervention activity(funny lecture, participatory and interactivegame).Results:(1) Nutrition knowledge: The evaluation results showed thatthe nutrition knowledge scores of instant intervention group were9.03±2.75and14.70±3.28before and after intervention respectively, andthe difference was significant(u=29.78, P<0.01); the knowledge scores ofthe nine months later intervention group were12.35±2.89, which werelower than instant intervention group(u=12.40, P<0.01),but higher thanbefore intervention (u=18.04, P<0.01).(2) Eating habits:241studentscannot have their breakfast insistently every day, but47.30%students were willing to change this behavior after instant intervention, and after ninemonths later,42.30%students were willing to change this behavior(χ~2=2.99,P>0.05).(3) Food safety: The food safety scores of instant interventiongroup, which were higher than control group, nine months laterintervention group and before intervention, and the difference wassignificant (P<0.01).Conclusion: It is feasible and effective to conduct nutrition scienceexperience by medical college student nutrition association in primary andsecondary school campus. | Keywords/Search Tags: | nutrition knowledge, food safety, eating behavior, schoolstudentscollege of science, school students, effect evaluation | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
