Objective: Use “bushenguchiwan” assisted periodontal initial therapy.Through Conebeam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and related software to measure the height changesof the alveolar bone before and after the treatment,Observing the clinical effect ofperiodontal initial therapy assisted by “bushenguchiwan”.Methods: A randomized project is adopted in this study.40chronic periodontitis inSyndrome of yin deficiency with fire were divided into treatment group (n=20) andcontrol group (n=20).Before treatment, these patients were examined and the variousclinical indexes were recorded, including clinical attachment loss (CAL),probing pocketdepth (PD),gingival bleeding on probing index (BOP),bleeding index (BI) and score oftraditional chinese mediein (TCM) syndrome. The image of these patients were taken byCone beam Computed Tomography before treatment and then alveolar bone height of eachpatient in the image was measured respectively by two dentists. After that, the patients weretreated by initial therapy. Those of the treatment group took “Bushenguchiwan” while thoseof the control group took VitaminC.After three months each patient got the second clinicalexamination and CBCT check. And then their results were compared with the recordsbefore the patients’ treatment. The linear correlation analysis were conducted using changevalues of the alveolar height before and after the treatment and that of the TCM syndromescore as two variables.Results:1、There was no statistical difference between different observers on alveolarbone density measurement.2、CBCT measurements proved that both groups showedsignificant increase in alveolar bone height after treatment, but the periodontal index of thetreatment group was significantly better than that of the control group (P <0.05).3、 Linearcorrelation analysis showed that decreased value of TCM symptom score and the addedvalue of alveolar bone height were positively correlated (r=0.945). Conclusion:1“Bushenguchiwan” as an auxiliary means for periodontal treatment canfurtherly promote the alveolar bone repair of the periodontitis patients.2.Cone beam Computed Tomography and related software can be used as a monitoringtechnique in the clinical research. The effect of the treatment can be accurately evaluatedthrough the accurate measurement of alveolar bone height in the clinical treatment ofperiodontitis patients and also can provide guiding significance for further treatment.
