objective To explore the imaging manifestations of sinusoidal obstruction syndrome(HSOS) caused by Gynura segetum.Materials and methods20cases of HSOS from our hospital caused by consuming Gynura segetum were confirmed by clinical diagnosis and liver biospy from April2010to July2012. Including them there are19males and1female;11acute cases,3subacute cases and6chronic cases. The clinical data, CT and MR imagings will be analyzed in this article.Results14cases underwent CT scan and11cases accepted MRI examination. Unenhanced CT and MRI examination features are heterogenous hypodensity of liver parenchyma. The portal venous and delayed phases of hepatic enhancement performed uneven and poorly perfusion, the liver parenchyma along the three main hepatic veins appears higher density and signal, and more even than the rest part of the liver. The three main hepatic veins seemed tiny, light or absence, the inferior vena cava became compressed but unobstructed. The periportal edema and portal hypertension also represented. Conclusion The MRI contrast medium will not increase the kidneys’ burden, so the MRI examination can be adapt to the patients with liver dysfunction and hepatorenal sydrome. Because of the flowing void effect, MRI can show intrahepatic veins better than CT scan. The imaging postprocessing technique of CT can clearly show the inferior vena cava and intrahepatic vessels, DSA can derectly perform the hemodynemic circulation in the liver, these two examination have important effect in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of HSOS. The HSOS caused by Gynura segetum have a certain degree of typical imaging findings, combing with Gynura segetum consuming history and pathological examination, can help to suggest the diagnosis of HSOS.
