Part1: The Method and Application of Synthetical Evaluation of Childrenand Adolescents Physical HealthObjectives:1) To establish a physical health synthetical evaluation index system andtheoretical model and then2) this system and model were applied to conduct acomprehensive evaluation of the physical health status of children and adolescents. Methods: Method of documentation, panel discussion and the expert evaluation were usedduring the construction of the children and adolescents physical health synthetical evaluationindex system and theoretical model. After considering the experts’ suggestions collected byDelphi method and quantifying by analytic hierarchy process of the system engineering, theweight coefficient of synthetical evaluation index system was finally comfirmed. A large scalephysical health survey with cluster random sampling were conducted among the children andadolescents from four Chinese City (i.e. Harbin, Wuhan, Xiangtan, Guangzhou). Fuzzymathematics synthetical evaluation method was used to detect the difference of the childrenand adolescent physical health among different regions. Results: The children and adolescents physical health synthetical evaluation index systemwhich included five categories of indicators (i.e. body shape, physical function, physicalquality, mental health, body health) was established. The index weights of five types were0.1535,0.1535,0.2250,0.1535,0.3145, respectively. Results of the children and adolescentsphysical health evaluation by using synthetical evaluation method showed that theGuangzhou’s children and adolescents’ physical health synthetical evaluation(72.6502)scored the highest than that of Xiangtan(71.5979), Harbin(71.1200), Wuhan(70.8483). Thedifference was tested statistical significance(p<0.05)Conclusions: The children and adolescents physical health synthetical evaluation indexsystem was proved effectiveness and objectiveness enough to apply. Result of the healthevaluation of Guangzhou’s children and adolescents are superior to Xiangtan, Harbin, Wuhanby applying that synthetical evaluation index system. Part2: Effects of Overweight and Obesity on physical quality, and mentalhealth among children and adolescencesObjectives: To study the prevalence of overweight and obesity among children andadolescences, and analysis the influence of overweight and obesity on physical quality, andmental health. To provide reference data for enhancing their physical and mental health. Methods: Data was collected from4292children and adolescents. BMI cut-offs were used todefine overweight and obesity ones. Then children and adolescents constitution and quality oflife were further compared between overweight group, obesity group and normal group. Results: Among4292children and adolescences, the prevalence of overweight and obesitywere10.41%and5.66%. The prevalence rates of overweight and obesity among boys werehigher than that of girls. The differences were tested statistical significance (p<0.05). Adecreasing trend of prevalence of overweight and obesity with age was found among thechildren and adolescents. The physical quality in overweight group and obesity group weresignificantly worse than that of normal group. The difference was tested statisticalsignificance(p<0.05). The mental health in overweight group, obesity group and normalgroup were tested no statistical significance(p>0.05).Conclusions: The prevalence of overweight and obesity were higher during the childhoodyears than that of pubertal years, and higher among boys than girls. With the prevalentobesity among the children and adolescents, some physical or psychological problems mayoccur.
