Thepresent study also aimed to explore the association between learning habits, homereading environment and dyslexia, and tried to find factors associated with dyslexiawhich could provide the basis for interventions. Methods: Using cluster random sampling, we selected9schools from5districts andinvestigated6350students from grade3rd to6th. According to criteria of dyslexia, weidentified the dyslexic children and non-dyslexic children. Then we conductedchi-aquare test and multivariate logistic regression to analyze the data.Results(1) The prevalence of dyslexia was3.9%, and a gender ratio was nearly3:1from boysto girls for dyslexic children. The prevalence of boys and girls were5.7%,2.0%respectively.(2) The OR in boys who suffered from dyslexia was2.7times as high as that ingirls(OR=2.3,95%CI:1.6~3.2). We took mothers with an education of collegediploma or above as a control group, the lower the education level of mothers, thehigher risk the children to be dyslexic. From low to high level of mothers’ education, the OR were12.1(95%CI:1.6~87.3),9.3(95%CI:1.3~67.4);The risk of children whohad scheduled reading time to be dyslexic was0.5times as high as those withoutscheduled reading time (OR=0.5,95%CI:0.4~0.8).Conclusion(1) The prevalence of Chinese dyslexia was3.9%in the city. There was a differencein gender for Chinese dyslexia; the gender ratio was3:1and the prevalence of boyswas higher than that of girls;(2) Active learning and scheduled reading time was protective factors associated withdyslexia, and we should help children develop habits of active learning and reading infixed time. (3) There were differences in associated factors with dyslexia among children in lowgrade and high grade. It indicated that we should establish scientific educationalmethod and create better home reading environment. | Keywords/Search Tags: | children, dyslexia, learning habits, socioeconomic status, home readingenvironment, prevalence | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
