The Practice Research Of The Medical Social Workers In Hospice Care Service

As economy and society develop fast, people pay attention to the living quality, at the same time, more and more to the life quality before death. The emergence of hospice care as an emerging service industry meets people’s special demands before death. however, people understand hospice care less and it develops slowly because of the late start and the influence of traditional death concept in our country. Currently scholars research the hospice care service about its theory development assumption and theoretical difficulty etc, but the researching materials of practical field need adding.The paper is based on the public welfare program of "hospice care, donating organs and social worker’s service" campaigned by the social work center Rongxueshengping, in Shenzhen. The author gathered information through reading literature, participating in the project and interviewing related personnel, and made an investigation of the specific situation of social workers’care for those who are dying. The article further provides some information of value concerning the situation. There are four parts in the following content.The first part is the preface. It mainly expounds the research background, purpose and meaning, summarizes related research of hospice care and medical social workers’ intervention. It also sums up the current research findings and the shortcomings.The second part is the design of the research. Under the guidance of the ecological system theory, five stages of Death theory and Crisis intervention model, the author conducts the research through reading literature, participating in the project and interviewing related personnel, so as to make investigation of the current situationThe third part detailedly analyses the practice of the hospice care service done by the medical social workers. The writer takes the introduction and analysis of the project background and resource. Meanwhile, based on the detailed service procedures, the writer introduces the project in detail from the four perspectives:namely the service target source, the difficulty and demand assessment of the target demographic, the development of professional social workers service and service assessment and the summit of experience, besides, emphasizes on the detailed contents of the involvement of medical social workers in the hospice care:namely case work, grope work and community work and introduces the detailed contends of the emotional support and persuasion, resource mobilization and linkage, the coordination of doctor-patient relationship, the extended education on death, recall of life, guidance o f sorrow, the follow-up service of the special case community, cancer club, the group for the family supports, the group for the relief of the medical workers, the seminar and the popularization, and then carries out the classification assessment on the different service communities and summarizes the experiences and difficulty. At the same time, the writer analyses the direct and indirect roles the medical social workers shoulder in the service.The last part is conclusion and discussion. Based on the above analysis, the main conclusion is that the difficulty and demand of the target demographic are so salient that the involvement of professional services are badly needed; the abundant sources provides basic guarantee for the development of the projects; the involvement of the medical social workers is characterized with flexible method far-ranging contents and various roles; involvement of medical social workers into the hospice care service comes into effects. Discussion part analyses the professional advantage of the involvement of medical social workers into the hospice care service and its awkward position. Furthermore, the writer discusses the development of the medical social workers based on the government policy and academic education. Some suggestions are put forward for the future development, such as the improvement of the professional quality of the medical social workers, encouragement of volunteers to perfect the dying care services team, stress on the hospice care service and the expansion of the service target, found the multichannel of fund raising and enhance the publicity of the organ donation, etc. Moreover, the improved methods regarding the research time and method are proposed to properly prolong the service and time and to combine the qualitative research with the quantitative research to realize the comprehensiveness and scientificalness of the researched materials and methods.
