Objective (1) To compare the status of personality characteristics, self-efficacy,social support, coping style and social support in patients with chronic pain between depression group and non-depression group,and analyzing the formative factor of depression in them.(2) To investigate the correlation between depression and the personality characteristics,self-efficacy,social support,coping style,and the influence of personality in self-efficacy,social support and coping style.Methods One hundred and twenty four patients with chronic pain were investigated by Chronic disease self-efficacy Scale (CDSS), Simplified coping style questionnaire (SCSQ),Social support rating scale(SSRS),Eysenck personality questionnaire (EPQ)and Beck depression inventory(BDI).Results (1) Recycling of124valid questionnaires, which has73patients(58.9%) is not associated with depression and51patients(41.1%) are associated with depression in chronic pain. The incidence of depression in patients with chronic pain due to gender, age, education level, marital status, religious belief, pain, pain, pain intensity and duration are different.(2) The score of neuroticism (N), psychoticism (P) and the score of negative coping were significantly higher, and The score of extraversion, the total score of social support, the score of subjective support and the utilization coefficient of supports was significantly lower in depression group than that in non-depression group (P<0.01).(3)The depression extents positively correlated with neuroticism(N), negative coping style (P<0.01), and negatively correlated with extraversion(E),actively coping style, social support, subjective social support, the degree of using support, self-efficacy (P<0.05);The extraversion (E) positively correlated with actively coping style, social support,self-efficacy (P<0.01),and negatively correlated with negative coping style (P<0.01);The neuroticism (N) positively correlated with negative coping style (P<0.01),and negatively correlated with actively coping style, social support,self-efficacy (P<0.01); The psychoticism(P) negatively correlated with social support,self-efficacy (P<0.05);The self-efficacy positively correlated with actively coping style,social support (P<0.05),and negatively correlated with negative coping style (P<0.01);(6)Neuroticism, actively coping style, Symptom management self-efficacy, subjective support entered the regression equation of depression and can explain the40.7%percent variance.Conclusion (1) The personality characteristics, social support, coping style and self-efficacy are important intermediary factors for patients with chronic pain, they can promote or delay the occurrence of depression.(2) To some extent, personality characteristics impact on coping style, social support, and self-efficacy.(3) The self-efficacy decided to an acquirement of social support and a choice of coping style. |
