Objective:To compare the clinical efficacy of minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis and intramedullary nail for the treatment of tibial fracture in the adult patients in ChinaMethods:We searched computerized databases including PUBMED, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, China Knowledge Library, Wanfang Technology, VIP Journal etc., for randomized clinical trials and clinical trials about minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis and intramedullary nail for the treatment of tibial fracture in the adult patients in China published after2000. We reviewed the fitted literatures, and perform the heterogeneity test and meta analysis with Revman5.0software. We analysed enumeration data with relativerisk (RR), and measurement data with weight mean difference (WMD).We used95%confidence interval (CI), and p=0.05.Results:We identified8literatures, and the meta analysis showed:compared with IMN group,MIPPO group has obvious advantages on surgery duration, hospitalized period, healing period and costs;however, the two groups show no difference on operative bleeding volume, complication incidence and post-operative excellent rate. Conclusions:MIPPO and IMN are both effective methods for the treatment of tibial fracture in the adult patients in China, and MIPPO is always chosen for patients of tibial shaft fracture which is near metaphysis or who cannot afford the cost.
