| Background:Nowadays, the drug is like an epidemic overflowing around the world. Taking drugs will not onlydestroy the addicts’ physical and mental health, consume a huge sum of capital, but also result in a series ofserious social problems, such as Aids deluge, crimes, public disorder etc. Methadone maintenancetreatment (MMT) is a kind of treatment measure, together with other comprehensive therapeutic measureslike psychotherapy and behavior intervention etc, aiming at taking methadone over a long period of time tohandle the abuse of opioid addiction and finally reduce the damage and demand of drugs.According to the treatment experiences of foreign countries, China began to found MMT clinic in2004and then Kaifeng city also formally established one in February,2009. MMT is not a radical cure butone kind of substitutive short, which means that the patients need long-term or even lifelong treatment.Since methadone can not be compared with the heroin in satisfying the physical and psychological needs ofthe addicts, research has shown that only a few addicts can keep accepting treatment for more than10years.Therefore, during the period of treatment the phenomenon of steal taking occurs among some addicts,which will directly influence the real effects of the treatment and then make MMT clinic of national stronginvestment lose meaning. In order to find out the steal taking of the addicts who are in treatment andrelevant factors, this dissertation carries out an investigation pointing at the addicts from Kaifeng MMTclinic.Objective:To explore the present situation of Kaifeng MMT clinic and the influencing reasons for the addicts’steal taking, and then put forward some measures and strategies to maintain and spread the substitutive shotfor the users, which to some extent, recovers the addicts’ domestic and social functions and effectivelydecreases the dissemination of Aids and crimes related to heroin.Method:434sufferers who received treatment in MMT clinic of Kaifeng CDC for more than one month fromFebruary,2009to September,2012were chosen for a questionnaire. The content included socialdemography, degree of medical addiction before treatment, the situation of the patients in treatment and steal taking condition. Data were collected through questionnaire, the outpatient record of patients andpersonal interview etc. Whether the sufferers steal taking or not could be judged by combining theself-statement of the sufferers with the result of morphine urine test, and those who claimed their stealtaking and whose urine check result were positive could be judged as the addicts stealing taking. Byadopting SPSS17.0statistics analysis software to record and analyze the questionnaire data, according tothe analytical results, relevant factors of steal taking were found out, and strategies and measures against itwere put forward.Result:1. The demography:414effective questionnaires are obtained, and336are from male interviewees (81.2%),78from female (18.8%),388Han people (93.7%); Age (40.6±6.8),353people from30to50years old(85.2%);191married people (46.1%),106divorced or widowed people (25.6%);322people with culturaldegree under junior high school (77.8%),238unemployed people (57.5%);203people living with spouseand children (49.0%),127people living alone (30.7%). Medicine addiction condition before joining MMTclinic:408people mainly taking heroin (98.6%); the average time for taking drugs (8.5±5.8years); theaverage amount per day (0.7±0.6gram); the average cost per day (635.4±582.9yuan).The presentsituation of stealing taking among MMT sufferers:157people (37.9%) acknowledging stealing taking theheroin in one month and being proved positive in morphine urine test.2. The analysis of the relevant factors shows: the following factors as sex, occupation, the degree ofsatisfaction with MMT clinics, relationship with other family members, times of contacting withdrug-taking friends, and illegal actions after joining the MMT clinics have the statistical meaningconcerning steal taking of heroin (P<0.05). This means that those addicts who are male, unsatisfied withMMT clinics, and not getting on well with other family members but frequently contacting with otherdrug-taking friends or conducting illegal actions are more likely to steal taking.3. The result of the regression analysis shows: variables which get into the model in the end and alsohave the statistical meaning are "sex","employment status","degree of satisfaction with the MMT clinics","relationship with other family members" and "the frequency of contacting with other drug-taking friendsin the past30days ". Conclusion:1. The lack of euphoria is the main reason for the addicts’ stealing taking; therefore, the focus shouldbe put on the control of negative emotion and the strengthening of faith and social responsibility of thepatients.2. The phenomenon of steal taking during treatment generally exists among the patients of MMT,according to the analysis of many factors, sex, employment status, degree of satisfaction on work quality ofMMT, relationship with other family members, times of contacting with drug-taking friends in the past30days are relevant factors that influence patients to steal taking. Male, unemployed patients who areunsatisfied with MMT, do not have a harmonious relationship with other family members but frequentlycontact with drug-taking friends are more likely to steal taking.3. Intervention aiming at those relevant factors above should firstly improve the work quality of MMTclinic, and the medical personnel should offer a humanized service, build an effective system supported byfamily and society and provide job opportunities to the patients in a positive manner to increase theretention rate of MMT clinic and decrease the percentage of steal taking.Proposal:1. Strengthen the propaganda of MMT clinics.2. Establish an effective system supported by family and society.3. Improve the work quality of MMT clinics.4. Conduct the psychological behavior of the patients from MMT clinics. |
