Cleft lip and cleft palate (cleft palate) is a common congenital malformation of the oral and maxillofacial region, which caused by imperfecta embryonic. The incidence of cleft lip and palate deformities is1/500~1/1000in the worldwide scale. So children with cleft lip and palate is very common. Cleft palate can occur alone and also can be associated with cleft lip. Not only because the cleft palate patients have soft tissue abnormalities but also have bone tissue deformity and jaw bone developmental disorder. These can cause midface collapse, even severe disc face. Patient suffer from language function in addition to cleft palate, which upset the patients’ normal life. The study of cleft palate is necessary. Now academics think that influence of facial growth includ inherent factors, facial function factors and iatrogenic factors. Iatrogenic factors listed as the main factors of the facial growth inhibition in postoperative patients. Here, this research focus on the influence of jaw bone development and pronunciation after operated in different ages. Selection the most appropriate age to minimize the impact of cleft palate surgery. Purpose of researchAnalysis the influence on the jaw bone growth after cleft palate operation in different period by the method of X ray shadow measurement.MethodsSelection60cases who received cleft palate surgery in anhui medical university affiliated Stomatologic Hospital from January2000to March2012. The object of study are male and the age is13to18(14.8+/-1.6) years old.According to the average age of surgery they divided into3groups:group A (operated befor5years old); group B (operated in5~12years old) and group C (operated after12years old). Selecting20normal male students at the age of14~18(15.2±1.4) as control group. Request the control group have not received orthodontic, jaw bone and palat surgery. By using X-ray cephalometric analysis measured hard tissues between experimental group with the control group, reference Downs and Wylie analysis measurement items, selected10measurement items,Statistical analysis was carried out between each group. To compare the characteristics of the patients which receiving surgery at different ages.ResultsCompared with the normal group, SNA, NA-PA, ANS-Ptm, S-Ptm and N-ANS of the cleft palate patients are smaller (P<0.05). The experimental group compared with each other,S-Ptm, N- ANS and N-ANS/N-Me of the group A are smaller (P<0.05).ConclusionThe patients received cleft palate repair have varying degrees of deficiency in maxillary growth including length, height, width, front and rear position relations. There were no significant differences in the height and position of the mandible bone growth. The data analysis of cephalometry showed that, there are differences in maxillary height and longitudinal position between the repair in small age and in older age, but the small age group is better than the older age at voice quality. |
