Objective: To investigate the localizations of protein gene product9.5(PGP9.5),substance P(SP), and nerve growth factor(NGF) in patients with endometriosis usingimmunohistochemical staining; to explore the significance of nerve fibers abnormaldistribution;To detect the correlation between PGP9.5、SP、NGF and the pain ofendometriosis and to explore the relationship between endometrial nerve fiberdistribution and the pain in endometriosis;To detect the expression of endometrialcyclooxygenaes-2(COX-2) and the correlation between nerve fiber distribution andCOX-2in endometriosis; To analysis the relationship between COX-2and the pain inendometriosis.Methods: Forty-five endometriosis patients were divided into24cases with pain,21cases without pain according to the visual analogue scale method (VAS);25cases ofcontrol group. The expression of PGP9.5, SP, NGF and COX-2were detected byimmunohistochemical staining. SPSS17.0software packages was used to analysis alldata.Two-tailed test with P﹤0.05were considered significance.Results:1.There was significant among the density of PGP9.5-immunoreactivenerve fiber, the expression of NGF and COX-2in eutopic endometrium ofendometriosis and normal endometrium in control group (P﹤0.05);but the expressionof SP was not(P﹥0.05).2.The density of PGP9.5-immunoreactive nerve fiber and theexpression of SP,NGF and COX-2were higher in pain group than those in painlessgroup and control group,and there was significant between three groups(P﹤0.05).3.The density of PGP9.5-immunoreactive nerve fiber and the expression of SP,NGF andCOX-2were both significantly higher in the severe pain than in mild pain and moderatepain(P﹤0.05), and the density of PGP9.5-immunoreactive nerve fiber and theexpression of SP and NGF were both significantly correlated with the expression ofCOX-2in pain group of endometriosis.(r=0.564;P﹤0.05).,4. The density of PGP9.5-immunoreactive nerve fiber and the expression of SP,NGF and COX-2wereboth significantly correlated with the visual analogue scale method (VAS).(r=0.745,0.624and0.628;P﹤0.05).Conclusion:1.There was nerve fibers abnormal distribution in endometrial andectopic endometrium of endometriosis patients,and there were higher the density ofnerve fibers in ectopic endometrium of endometriosis.2.The expression of nerve fiberswere related to the pain severity,and abnormal high expression of nerve fibers was oneof the reasons the pain in endometriosis.3.There was consanguineous relationshipbetween the expression of endometrial COX-2and nerve fiber distribution inendometriosis.4.The expression of COX-2was related to the pain severity,and was one ofthe reasons the pain in endometriosis.
