| Objectives:To study the different clinical features and physical activity in patientswith primary insomnia and normal controls group, and to discuss the possiblesignificance of activity level in the process of primary insomnia.Methods:28patients with primary insomnia and20normal controls were detectedin the study through psychiatric interview, using the Chinese version ofMini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview and the diagnostic criteria for primaryinsomnia of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth edition(DSM-IV). All the subjects were investigated by a series of questionnaires: thePittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI), Epworth Sleepiness Scale(ESS),Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory(MFI), State-Trait AnxietyInventory(STAI), Beck Depression Inventory(revised edition)(BDI-R),and takenActigraph device for7consecutive days, then use ActiLife5.6.4software togeneration the energy expenditure. The SPSS13.0analysis soft ware was used to dothe statistics to study the different physical activity level between the primaryinsomnia group and the normal control group. Results:The results showed that:1.The physical activity level per hour (p=0.024)ofPI group were higher than NC group; Physical activity rating percentage (Sedentary:p=0.018; lifestyle=0.027;Light: p=0.000; Moderate: p=0.012) between primary groupand normal group were significant difference.2ã€The scores of PSQIã€ESSã€MFIã€STAIã€BDI-R in patients with primary insomnia were significantly different(p<0.05)with normal group.3ã€The parameters of sleep were difference between primary groupand normal group(p<0.05).4ã€The results did not identify a significant correlationbetween the energy expenditure per hour and the scores of the questionnaries. Conclusions:The Physical activity level of patients with primary insomnia weresignificantly different compared to normal controls. The change of physical activitylevel may take part in the process of primary insomnia, and can be another feature ofpatient with primary insomnia. There were no enough evidence to prove the significant correlation between the unit weight energy expenditure every hour and thescores of the questionnaries... |
