Objective: To analysis the factors that influence central compartment lymphnode metastasis in cN0thyroid microcarcinoma before dissection. Methods:Forty nine patients with cN0thyroid microcarcinoma who underwent centralcompartment lymph node dissection during2005-2010were enrolled in thisstudy. The correlation of central compartment lymph node metastasis with thepatients’ age, sex, tumor diameter, extrathyroid extension and histological typewere analyzed. Results: The central compartment lymph node dissection wasfound in11of the49patients, the rate of central compartment lymph nodemetastasis is22.4%. Tumor diameter was correlated with central compartmentlymph node metastasis. A high frequency of central compartment lymphmetastasis was found in tumor diameter≥5mm than that of <5mm(38.5%vs4.3%,P=0.006).Conclusion: The thyroid microcarcarcinoma with cN0stage had anextent frequency of central compartment lymph metastasis. It is more significantto perform the central compartment lymph node dissection in tumor≥5mm.
