| Music is one of the art forms which are organized by different tone highly, for theexpression of people’s thoughts and feelings, showing the social life. Music is an abstractart that consist of many factors, but music melody is the main carrier of the soul of music.Electroencephalogram (EEG) is one of the most important means of discussing braincortical signals in the modern study. We want to understand how music influence the brain,it’s necessary to study the main regular pattern of EEG changes under the different musicmelody, in order to achieve the purpose of treating disease by music. In the review, the research progress on the EEG mechanism of emotional responsesby music is summarized for reference and learning. Form the dynamic characteristics, synchronism and information theory, the paper discuss the influence of the different formsof music on EEG and whether it’s related to the music major. Firstly, the gravity frequencycan reflect the distribution of the power spectrum of EEG, the influence of the musicmelody on the frequency of the EEG can be obtained very intuitively; secondly,cross-correlation and coherence can analyze the synchronism of the different regions ofthe brain quantitatively in view of the time and frequency domain; thirdly, based oninformation theory, we can draw the conclusions of the interconnection of the brain bycalculating the mutual information among multi-channel.In the music experiment, the EEG data are acquired from10male students majoringin music and10male students whose majors are not music under the condition that theyare resting and listening eight different forms of music. And twelve electrodes data that areselected from the EEG data are used to distinguish the six brain regions. The statisticalresults show: adagio music and minor music are compared with rap music and majormusic, the former can induce higher synchronization and more information transfer ofEEG than the later, but the fomer’s GF is lower than the later’s; similarly, heavy metalmusic and piano music are compared with piano music and lullaby, the former can inducehigher synchronization and more information transfer of EEG than the later, but piano’sGF is lower than lullaby’s; music major subjects are compared with non music major subjects, the former can induce higher GF, synchronization and more information transferof EEG than the later. |
