Salinization occurred in saline soil of Subei intertidal zone is one of the importantfactors that could destroy severely soil quality, which restrict the sustainable use anddevelopment of the agriculture in intertidal zone. Therefore, the improvement andutilization of tidal mudflat resources is significant for enhancing soil quality andproductivity. Previous studies had been proved that it was an efficient approach toimprove saline-alkali lands by straw mulching. Field micro-plot experiments werecarried out, through proving the law of salt water dymamics of salinization soil andanalyzing the improve efficiency of soil quality under straw mulching, to point out theappropriate covering mode, in order to accelerate saline soil management and landcapability cultivation, and to improve soil quality, and then provide a theoretical basis andtechnical support for the areas of soil improvement and agricultural production. The maincontents and conclusions are as follows:1. Law of motion of salt for salinization soil is studied under different strawmulching methods. The soil salt accumulation can be inhibited significantly by strawmulching, and soil harmful ions decreased. pH of soil decreased compared with pre-experiment, but there were no significant differences between treatments. The main ionsof salinization soil are Na+and Cl-which had recuded obviously by mulching methods.2. The study on the effect of straw mulching mode on soil physical and chemicalproperties and fertility were conducted. The results were: the results showed that soilwater content has been increased to certain degrees under straw mulching mode. The dualmulching mode of straw surface combined with deep coverage can effectively improvethe preservation of soil moisture; after straw mulching, the bulk density decreased, compactness decreased, infiltration coefficient increased, physical and chemicalcharacters were improved. The treatment of straw mulching increased the content oforganic matter, available potassium and available phosphorus. In the process ofdecomposition of corn residues, the consumption of soil nitrogen would increase, so thecontent of soil nitrogen decreased.3. The improvement of growth and yield of crops were also studied under differentmulching mode. The yield-increase effect under straw surface and layered mulching were more stable and significant than that of film-covered, especially in the dry year. The effect of winter barley yield-increase was more significant than that of summermaize under plastic film mulching.4. High salt content, poor physical structure and the scare of soil were the maineffect on improvement of soil quality. Based on straw mulching, this paper put forward amain mode to improve and optimize soil quality. This mode also emphasized on the strawmulching. Surface mulching combined with70cm layered mulching were used in thistechnique, which can strengthen the water and salt quality regulation, improve soilphysical structure, and achieve the maximum of land productivity.
