| Sooty blotch and flyspeck (SBFS) is a common disease complex occurring on a widerange of hosts in high temperature and humid areas worldwide. The pathogen blemishes fruitand plants (leaves, branches, stems) surface with dark smudges without infecting plants,cause downgrading of fruit and reduces the ornamental value of the ornamental-plantsresulting in significant economic losses.The epiphytic fungi of SBFS is highly diverse, comprising more than80species in morethan35genera mostly within the Capnodiales. This paper was to resolve the taxonomy ofSBFS fungal complex in China by using both morphological characters and molecularbiology.Samples were collected from some places of Hainan, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Anhui, Liaoning,and Guangdong Provinces in2011. Hosts were related to pear (Pyrus sp.), apple (Maluspumila Borkh.), plum (Prunus salicina Lindl.), banana(Musa basjoo Siebold&Zucc.),palm(Trachycarpus fortunei Fortunei.), bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens), India rubber trees(Ficus elastica Roxb. ex Hornem.), breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis), traveller’s-tree (Ravenalamadagascariensis Adans.), areca triandra (Areca triandra Roxb. ex Buch.), and umbrella tree(Schefflera octophylla Harms.).384samples were collected,217pure isolates were obtained,and160conidia producing strains were analyzed.We selected50representative isolates for further taxonomic study. These pure isolateswere almost belonged to15genera including genera of Devriesia, Ramichloridiu,Phaeothecoidiella, Zasmidium, Pseudoveronaea, Zygophiala, Acremonium, Tripospermum,Phialophora, Scleroramularia, Aureobasidium, Wallemia, Peltaster, Mycosphaerella,Zeloasperisporium. This paper mainly identified and described13species in7genera,including1new species and1new record species in Devriesia,2new species in Zasmidium,3new record species in Ramichloridiu,1new record species in Phaeothecoidiella,1newrecord species in Pseudoveronaea,1novel species and2new record species in Acremonium,1novel species in Zeloasperisporium. Besides, Devriesia and Pseudoveronaea were firstlyreported associated with SBFS in China. This study enriched the diversity of sooty blotch andflyspeck, and further displayed a variation in host range. |
