| Wheat Straw Residue of Paper-mill is drawing a lot of attention due to its plentiful sources, steady physi-chemical characters and non-chemical pretreatment. In the present study, most of the organic substrates are produced by the technic of windrow fermentation, which has a low speed, a long period and a high cost. Thus to find an effective method of fermentation and to reduce the production cost is the key to the popularization of the wheat straw residue substrate. In this paper, a few factors, such as moisture content, turning internal and added nitrogen kind, were investigated to find the effects on the performance of wheat straw residue fermentation; in addition, the use of wheat straw residue substrate as component of mixed substrate for sweet pepper and cucumber seedlings growth and development instead of peat was studied, to choose an ideal mixture for the seedlings; moreover, the use of wheat straw residue substrate as component of mixed substrate for the cultivation of tomato and pepper was also studied, to choose an ideal mixture. Main research results were as follows:1. Effects of nitrogen kind, moisture content and turning frequency on the characters of the production is increasingly important. The best level of each factor is cow manure mixed with urea as added nitrogen,70%moisture content and4-day turning internal. Taken into account all parameters, the favorable condition of wheat straw residue fermentation was70%of moisture content,4days of turning internal,400Kg cow manure and10Kg urea as added nitrogen.2. With the increase of wheat residue content in the mixture, the dry bulk density, total porosity, water holding porosity, nutrient concentrations, electrical conductivity and caption exchange capability all had a tendency to increase; the formula of36%straw residue with54%peat and10%vermiculite (T3) was ideal for the growth and development of sweet pepper seedlings. 3. The addition of vermiculite, perlite and peat all significantly decreased the bulk density, total porosity, the ratio of water-holding porosity to aeration porosity, small articles content, pH, as well as electricity conductivity, and significantly increased aeration porosity, middle articles content and large articles content. The formula of50%straw residue with25%vermiculite and25%peat (T9) was ideal for the growth and development of cucumber seedlings.4. The addition of vermiculite and peat bettered the physi-chemical characters, which increased the aeration porosity and decreased the bulk density, water-holding porosity, pH and electricity conductivity. As for the cultivation of potato and pepper, T4has better growth, production capability and fruit quality, thus the formula of54%straw residue with36%peat and10%vermiculite was ideal for the cultivation of potato and pepper. |
