As the development of nuclear energy, the problem of nuclear waste material disposal is becoming more and more important. Accelerator-driven subcritical system (ADS) provides a creative method to transmute nuclear waste. Lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) is selected as one of the main coolants of ADS program in China. To get the information of LBE flow rate timely and accurately is of important scientific significance and application value for deep-understanding and controlling of LBE cooled reactor’s running situationElectromagnetic flow meter (EMFM) was found is a main equipment on liquid metal flow-measurement. Through summarizing the study on EMFM in sodium, PbLi and LBE, an EMFM for LBE was designed. It was installed in the PREKY loop to test. The test results were used to evaluate the EMFM we designed.Several creative works had been done to improve the LBE EMFM:1) After theoretical and soft analysis, we made an EMFM for LBE.2) Through experiment on PREKY loop, we got a calculated factor for the LBE EMFM we designed under a typical experimental situation. This work pulled a step on the EMFM technology for LBE. The test results can guide the next research on EMFM technology for LBE.
