Along with the rapid development of the economy in our country, the transportation and infrastructure has also made a great achievement. As an important component in the transportation enterprise, the bridge highlights the growing importance of itself. The ribbed arch bridges, which are widely used in our country in1990s, have made a significant contribution to the transportation development. However, as time goes on, there have been varying degrees of damage on the majority of ribbed arch bridges, which gradually failed to meet the design requirements. The very purpose of this thesis is just to resolve this problem.1. This thesis has concluded the features of bridge components and structural behaviors, which includes the components of arch, horizontal tied-beam and architecture above the arch, the mechanical characteristics under load of gravity, vehicles, and temperature, combination effects between the ribs and the architecture above the arch, the effects of multi-span arches, and so on.2. This thesis discusses the characteristics of vehicles transverse load distribution of the rib and its calculation method, which includes corrective eccentric compression method, orthotropic plate method and the finite element method.3. Combining with the characteristics of the structure, this thesis discusses the type and formation mechanism of the common diseases in ribbed arch bridges.4. Analyze the principle and technology methods of the reinforcement for the common diseases which always emerge on the ribbed arch bridges.4. Discuss the methods of analysis, evaluation and reinforcement treatment of the diseases with the actual situation in a reinforcement project about a five-span ribbed arch RC bridge.
