In today’s society, energy crisis and environmental problems are becoming more and more seriously, the research of electric vehicles has been paid more and more attention. Induction motor has become the mainstream drive motor due to its simple structure, easy maintenance and low cost. However, the safety and reliability restricted the development of the vehicle. Based on the drive system speed sensor failure, this paper studies the fault-tolerant control. The control of the electric drive system requires speed sensor to collect the speed information. However, the speed sensor is easily damaged parts. Once the speed sensor is damaged, the safety of the driver will be threatened seriously. A fault-tolerant control is studied to solve this problem which combined the traditional vector control and vector control without speed sensor. The control algorithm has the characteristics of simple and reliable. This paper presents a practical method of fault diagnosis. A method of on-line identification of rotor time constant is proposed to eliminate motor parameters influence on the speed estimation. The voltage model and current model are combined to improve the accuracy of estimation in a wide speed range. The soft and hard experiment platforms are designed based on the DSP of TMS320F28335.In order to verity the correctness of fault-tolerant control algorithm, this paper builds simulation and experiment platform. On one hand, the simulation model is established in MATLAB SIMULINK simulation platform. The control algorithm is realized by the S-function. The identification of rotor time constant, the signal estimation with on-load and rated load and the switching process of fault-tolerant are verified by the simulation model. On the other hand, the experiment of signal estimation and fault-tolerant switching process are verified by the experiment bench. The simulation and experiment results verify the correctness and feasibility of fault-tolerant control.
