To some extent, historical buildings in universities have historical heritage. These buildings are the carrier of culture and symbol of the spirit. Historical buildings in campus not only reflect the style of a campus, but also is a sign of continuity of urban culture. Natural disasters and man-made damage make a lot of historical buildings disappear. So this is an urgent problem that how to protect historical buildings survived.The start time on the protection of historical buildings is late in China, and there are a lot of problems needed to be resolved, especially the protection on historical buildings in campus. In recent years, some matter, such as the expansion of construction, the dissimilation of buildings’ function, the relocation of campus and so on, bring great difficulty on the protection of historical buildings in campus.The thesis focuses on research on the protection of historical buildings in campus by benefiting from foreign experiences, comparative analysis, literature review, the collection and evaluation on data. Based on historical buildings distribution and conservation status in Zhejiang University, this paper establishes an index system to evaluate the protection of historical buildings in campus and calculated the weights of the indicators. Then we applied the index system on the measurement of the protection of historical buildings in Zhejiang University and provided some suggestion based on the result. The result of this research will become a good reference to the plan for the protection on historical buildings in Zhejiang University, and even all universities in China in the future.
