Ship coating is one of the three pillars of technology in shipbuilding technology. Thecoating performance standard proposed by IMO (International Maritime Association) hasbrought opportunities and challenges to China’s shipbuilding industry.Taking the technological transformation project of coating workshop in GuangzhouShipyard International Company Limited as a case, the ship painting project technologicaltransformation project and its environmental technology application in this thesis. In the caseof not increasing the coating ability, the company has achieved the goal to improve thecoating quality and reduce the emission of pollutants. The conclusions were as follows:1) In order to achieve the IMO PSPC requirements, the coating technology has beentransformed.The following construction contents were finished. Two new coating shops wereconducted, with coating capacity of1.2million m2/a. The previous outdoor coating processwas transferred to the new coating shops together with some productivities of the originalcoating shops. After the completion of the technical transformation, the whole coating abilitymaintained in1,876,000m2/a.2) In the technical transformation project, some appropriate environmental protectionmeasures were taken against various pollutants.In new coating shops, some advanced coatingtechniques, equipment, and waste gas treatment facilities were adopted to ensure that theemissions of air pollutants lower than the atmospheric pollutants emission limits (the secondperiod corresponding limits).Comprehensive measures including sound insulation, soundabsorption and noise elimination were taken in order to let the noise sources (such as coatingshop and air compressor station) in line with the industrial enterprises noise standards(GB12348-90) III requirements. The hazardous waste including waste paint and waste filtermaterial should be sent to a qualified hazardous waste treatment unit. General industrial solidwaste should be disposed in accordance with the general industrial solid waste storage anddisposal site pollution control standards "(GB18599-2001).The environmental pollutionaccident emergency plan was developed in order to establishing and improving theEnvironmental Emergency Mechanism.3) After the completion of the technological transformation project, the coating shopsachieved normal production load, and all the environmental protection equipment retainednormal operation. On-site environmental monitoring results showed that various pollutantsmet the requirements of discharge standard, and Pollutant Emission Total complianced withthe recommendations in the EIA.
