In the automotive development process, strength, stiffness and fatigue life are the basicrequirements for ensuring components used safely. The paper uses the method of CAE(Computer Aided Engineering) to research car-body’s strength, stiffness and fatigue life. Thismethod can find the components’ failure mechanism in product development initial phase andneed not prototype test, and can improve the service life and reduce the cost of products.Therefore, it is very important to carry out the CAE analysis of car-body structure.The paper aim at light-bus’s body structure which is being developed by a domesticcompany, and through the statics analysis research the body’s stiffness, strength and fatiguelife. Details will follow, take the bus BIW as object, based its CAD model and dynamicsparameters, comprehensive utilization of such FEM software Hypermesh, MSC.adams,MSC.nastran, and MSC.fatigue carry out the analyses of BIW stiffness, BIW stiffnesssensitivity and optimization, multi-body dynamics emulation, BIW strength and optimizationand BIW fatigue. Analysis results based on CAE can provide for technical parameters duringthe body structure design initial phase, and get rid of the dependence on prototype, shorten thedevelopment period, reduce the expense of design and find the problems of body in phase.Through this study, we can get a kind of effective application system. It is not onlyformation the automobile CAE analysis process for FEM analysis, multi-body dynamicsemulation, fatigue life analysis and structure optimization, but also formation a jointsimulation for Catia, Hypermesh, MSC.adams, MSC.nastran, and MSC.fatigue, realize theactual engineering application for CAE. This will provide for feasibility CAE technicalstandards, have a great significant for automobile research and development and innovation,and some analysis data accumulated in the study can help for similar analysis in the future.
