Mountain highway is an important part of our highway. With the activeconstruction and constantly open, mountain highway has greatly promoted theeconomic development in southwest of China. Due to the regional terrain, geology,hydrological conditions and other factors, the mountain highway accident rate hasbeen high and the accident always has been serious with the road alignmentconditions. Among the factors that cause traffic accidents, speed is one of the mostdirect reason. Currently, the highway speed limit standard is not uniform, just adjustthe implementation on the basis of the design speed, the credibility is not high. Thispaper have developed the mountain highway vehicle safe driving speed simulationrecognition system, analyzed the safe driving speed of different vehicles in differentsections and determined the dynamic speed limit value. It has a certain theoreticalsignificance to improve the mountain traffic safety level.This system used Visual Basic to develop the Adams secondary combined withcomputer technology and virtual technology, realized the pavement simulation ofmountain highway. The paper analyzed the influencing factors of vehicle safe drivingand the vehicle safety driving characteristics. According to the dangerous situationthat may arise, the paper selected a determining parameter that be taken as vehiclesafety driving state determination standards and given a threshold in different roadconditions from the point of view of the stabilization. This paper proposed the overallarchitecture of system, analyzed system needs, and realized the functions of thevarious functional modules. According to the characteristics of mountain highway, itgenerated the tunnel and ramp pavement in line with the characteristics of mountainhighway. It obtained the maximum safe driving speed of the test section on the basisof the safety of vehicles traveling state criteria through many trials, and verified thesimulation results using the People’s Republic of recommended industry standardsJTG/T B05-2004<Road Project Safety Evaluation Guide>.
