With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, electric vehicles havedeveloped rapidly. As permanent magnet synchronous motor has the characteristics ofhigh efficiency, high power and etc, permanent magnet synchronous motor is verypopular among the researchers of electric vehicles in recent years.Firstly, the theory of the fraction slot distributed winding and the designprinciples of the motor for vehicle permanent magnet synchronous motor is analyzedin this paper, and also the method of size designing and the material choosing of themotor is given.Secondly, the performances of distributed-winding permanent magnetsynchronous machines (PMSM) with double windings of short pitch layers underdifferent fractional slot-pole combinations are researched in this paper. The analysis ofelectromotive force, magnet motive force and no-load permanent magnetic field of themotor is carried out. The analysis indicates that the motor is suitable for the conditionswith low voltage, high current and high speed.A new analysis method which is the harmonic leakage inductance is obtained bysubtracting the fundamental inductance from the total inductance is put forward tocalculate the inductance in this paper. By combining the method of circuit networkanalysis and considering each coil as a branch, and the branch incident matrixbetween one-phase winding and the direction of the coil in series, the incidencematrix between magnetomotive force and flux are established. Thus, it is easilyobtained that all of flux in one phase and the total inductance of the motor. Finally, the motor’s performance of the distribution of magnetic force line, theback EMF, iron losses and cogging torque are analyzed through the method of finiteelement analysis. The results show that such motors are feasible.
