Coordination compounds are a class of inorganic-organic hybrid materials which are composed of organic bridging ligands and metal ions. This type of material combines the advantages of both inorganic and organic materials together. The research on this kind of functional material has been one of the active respects in chemistry due to their potential applications in gas storage and separation, heterogeneous catalysis, molecular identification, luminescent material, molecular magnets, ferroelectric and non-linear optics. In this thesis, fifteen novel coordination polymers have been assembled based on Schiif-base and polynitrogen heterocyclic ligands with transition metal salts. The structures and properities of these complexes have been studied. The main work is summarized as follows:1. Five complexes have been obtained by the self-assembly between transition metal and Schiff-base ligand H2L1derived from the condensation of2-amino-2-methyl-l-propanol and2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde. They were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, X-ray diffraction, fluorescence spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements.2. Eight complexes have been synthesized by the solvothermal reaction between transition metal and three polynitrogen heterocyclic ligands. Diverse structures from zero dimensions to three dimensions have been obtained through the modulation of solvent, metal ions and bridging ligands. They were studied by elemental analysis, IR, X-ray diffraction and magnetic susceptibility measurements.3. Two CuⅠ,Ⅱ clusters based on one polynitrogen heterocyclic ligand and copper salts have been successfully synthesized. Their structures were studied by elemental analysis, IR and X-ray diffraction. Their adsorption abilities for organic dyes have been further explored.
