Study On The Land Use Ecological Function Zoning Of Tongshan County

Ecological function zoning can build partition index system and divide the ecological environment system into several ecological function partitions according to the different current ecological environment situation. And then, it can develop scientific protection, management and construction for the differences between these ecological function partitions. So the ecological function zoning plays an important role in protecting the ecological environment and preventing the deterioration of the ecological quality. Tongshan County of Hubei Province is a complicated area which has mountainous hills, significant regional differences of the ecological environment, fragile ecological environment and broken landscapes. In recent years, the people of the county develop the economy without protecting the ecological environment. The county environmental problems occur frequently and even have continued worsening. Therefore, the study of the ecosystem and ecological function zoning of the county is needed. The ecological function zoning can conveniently and effectively guide the county’s land use distribution, the land use styles improvement and the land use structures adjustment. Then, the ecological deterioration trend can be curbed, and the purpose of the environmental protection and county’s sustainable development can be achieved.This paper builds the index system for the county’s ecological function zoning and zones the ecological function partitions of Tongshan County by using the cluster analysis method. However, the cluster analysis method only considers the distance between classes, ignores the land use activities of people. So the county’s land suitability evaluation and the Eco-environmental effects of land use analysis have been conducted. Those evaluations and analyses are used to improve the initial zoning scheme which produced by the cluster analysis method. The final land use ecological function zoning scheme of Tongshan County comes into being. Then, the corresponding direction of land use and recommendations for the environmental protection is providing according to the characteristics of each zone. On the study of Tongshan land use ecological function zoning, the paper obtained the following results and conclusions. (1) Building the index system of ecological function zoning of Tongshan and selecting the partition index factors which including Eco-efficiency, economic and social indicators, the ecological function zoning scheme of the Tongshan County is achieve through the cluster analysis methods. This scheme divided the county’s thirteen towns into five classes. The A class includes Chuangwang, Honggang, Yanxia and Danfan towns; The B class includes Nan Linqiao, Huang Shapu and Xiapu towns; The C class includes Cikou and Jiu Gongshan Scenic Area towns; The D class includes Yang Fanglin, Jiu Gongshan and Dalu towns; The E class is Tongyang towns.(2) Analyzing the current land use data of Tongshan County in detail and evaluating the land use suitability, the suitable areas for farming and forest are confirmed. The evaluation results of suitable for farming areas show that Dalu, Tongyang and Nan Linqiao are proper towns. Yang Fanglin, Jiu Gongshan, Yanxia, Danfan, Cikou and Honggang are the second-grade proper towns. Xiapu, Chuangwang, Jiu Gongshan Scenic Area and Huang Shapu are the forbidden towns. On the other hand, the evaluation results of suitable for forest areas show that Xiapu, Huang Shapu and Danfan are proper towns. Yang Fanglin, Nan Linqiao, Chuangwang, Jiu Gongshan, Yanxia and Honggang are the second-grade proper towns. Dalu, Tongyang and Jiu Gongshan Scenic Area are the forbidden towns. Then, the county’s major land use patterns and its ecological impacts on the Eco-environment has been analyzed and discussed.(3) Combining the initial zoning scheme which produced by the cluster analysis method and results of the county’s land use suitability evaluation, The land use ecological function zoning scheme of Tongshan County comes into being. This final scheme divides the thirteen towns of Tongshan into five land use ecological function zones including the urban life and production service zone, modern ecological agriculture development zone, forestry ecological economic development zone, soil and water conservation ecological zone and biodiversity conservation zone. The corresponding direction of land use and recommendations for the environmental protection is providing according to the characteristics of each zone.
