With economic globalized and information technology developed, the market demand changes quickly. Today’s cotton spinning industry is characterized by: demand diversification and individuation of textile products are increasingly strengthened, and yarn products with full varieties, small order quantity and short life cycle. Spinning process consists of a long, multi-step operation, and yarn quality largely determines the quality and style of fabric. Yarn quality evaluation related to the type of yarn and its end use. The core competence of the cotton spinning enterprises is the management level of spinning process and yarn quality.This research cooperates with Shenan Textile Company to develop a management system which can improve production management efficiency and yarn quality. Accurate demand analysis is one of the key points of this research, it directly linked to the availability of this management system. Demand analysis has been implied mainly by doing intern job in manufacturing shop and research center to get yarn production information and quality control methods, having panel discussion with technicians and staff members of Shenan Textile Company, studying spinning process sheets and yarn quality reports.This research focus on spinning process management and yarn quality control of Shenan textile company, and have completed the design and development of the system. This management system includes four parts:spinning material, spinning process, yarn quality and spinning equipment. It can realize intelligent function like editing, calculation, statistics, search, comparison and so on. Besides it also can implement quality warning of yarn semi-products and products. It offers an intelligent platform for spinning company to improve the efficiency of spinning production management and save the production cost.This research also establishes a comprehensive evaluation system of cotton yarn on the basis of the spinning process and yarn quality management system. According to yarn types and end use, analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and expert decision are applied to obtain weight coefficient of yarn quality index, then build comprehensive evaluation model of weighted Borda count method to achieve comprehensive scoring and sorting. The scoring and sorting results can be used for adjusting spinning process and it also can be worked for reference of new yarn development.
