The molecular designation and the polymerization process element of fluorine-containing acrylate copolymer were preliminarily studied in this paper. Firstly a kind of water and oil repellent finishing agent was preparated by emulsion copolymerization of fluorine-containing short alkyl chain acrylate monomer2-(Perfluorohexyl)ethyl methacrylate(FMA6) with nonfluorine-containing acrylic ester of fatty alcohols momomers(RA). The process conditions such as fluoride monomer content,alkyl chain length of nonfluorine-containing acrylic ester of fatty alcohols momomer, modified monomer A content, emulsifier content, initiator content were preliminarily researched, the contact angle of the polymer latex film on water and oil(diiodomethane) and the monomer conversion in the products were used as the assessment indicators, the better preparation process conditions of the terpolymer of P (FMA6-RA-A) was obtaind.Secondly, based to the prelimilary research,the orthogonal optimization experiment was conducted with three process elements namely fluoride monomer content, alkyl chain length of nonfluorine-containing monomer and modified monomer content, the contact angle of the polymer latex film on water and oil was used as the primary assessment indicator, the monomer conversion wasused as secondary assessment indicator. Furthermore, the orthogonal optimization experiment was also conducted with four process elements namely stirring speed, auxiliary emulsifier content, emulsifier content,initiator content, the monomer conversion wasused as the primary assessment indicator, the contact angle of the polymer latex film on water and oil was used as secondary assessment indicator. The optimum preparation conditions of P (FMA6-RA-A) polymer emulsion was obtaind after the prelimilary research and the twice orthogonal optimization experiments. Under the optimum preparation conditions, the average value of contact angle of the polymer latex films on water and oil were respectively135.62°and115.78°(θ/2method)、126.81°and110.41°(elliptic curve method); the average value of monomer conversion in the products was93.97%.Finally based to the optimum preparation conditions, the influence of each process factor on the contact angle of the polymer latex film and monomer conversion of P (FMA6-RA-A) was respectively studied. The sample of P (FMA6-RA-A) was characterized by Infrared spectrum(IR)、Nuclear magnetic resonance(1H-NMR) and Gel permeation chromatography(GPC).The preparation methods which were of high solid content, higher monomer conversion(>90%), better water and oil repellent function for a kind of enviroment friendly fluorine-containing short alkyl chain acrylate copolymer P (FMA6-RA-A) was acquired through a series of experimental reseaches. The contact angle of the polymer latex film on water and diiodomethane were respectively134±3°and115±3°(0/2method)、126±3°and110±3°(elliptic curve method). Therefore,a foundation of further researches and industrial application for the environmental-friendly finishing agent P (FMA6-RA-A) was established.
