The main content of the paper includes two parts:of composite and mechanical performance analysis of the composite under axial loads. For the microscopic mechanical analysis, firstly, the representive volume element model about carbon fiber reinforced resin matrix composite is established by the ANSYS software, and mechanical performances, including elasticity modulus, shear modulus and poisson ratio, are obtained by analyzing the composite with different fiber volume fractions. Secondly, the effects of different fiber volume fractions on mechanical performances of composite are predicted by comparative study. Lastly, the mechanical performances of the composite with a specific fiber volume fraction are solved to compare with experimental results. For the axial compression property research of the composite cylinder, it is divided into two parts:the buckling analysis of the composite cylinder under axial loads and the quasi-static compression analysis of the composite cylinder. The mechanical response of the composite cylinder is simulated by the ABAQUS nonlinear software. Firstly, the modal of the composite cylinder with or without reinforced layers is predicted by the simulation of compression process, and the influence of reinforced layers on the buckling load is studied by comparison. Secondly, the influence of different fiber wound angles on compression properties of the composite with reinforced layers is studied by modal analysis. And then, the properties of composite under axial loads are studied, with consideration that the angle of pre-crack is various, and the trend of the crack growth is analyzed by the result of modals to compare with the experimental result. At last, a quasi-static compression analysis is simulated to observe the compression process of carbon fiber reinforced resin matrix composite, and the damage load and energy change are used to predict the compression performance of cylinders with different pre-crack angles. The performance discrepancy of the composite cylinder with pre-cracks is analyzed to compare with the experimental result, and the axial compression performance of the composite cylinder is further understood.
