Numerical simulation method is commonly used in the research of liquid crystalsdirector distribution. However, the use of three-dimensional director simulation isquite limited. This is due to the symmetry of LC cell and electrode which madedirector distribution reduced to a two-dimensional problem. This article usethree-dimensional simulation to investigate the effect of in homogeneous field alongthe edge of electrode and flexoelectric effect. First of all, the equations of director andpotential are introduced, and then the simulation program with algorithm flow chartand numerical method is given. The simulation of five different geometry of LC cellshows that: inhomogeneous field only appears in thick cell. In LC of normal dielectricanisotropy, flexoelectric effect is covered by dielectric effect. However, in thick LCcell with square shaped electrode, flexoelectric effect appears.
