Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) based on atomic emissionspectroscopy and multidisciplinary cross combination is an elemental analysisdetection technology. Due to no sample preparation, less quantity and damage for thesample. LIBS technology is suitable for detecting element in solid, liquid or gaseoussample, and has fast analysis speed and high sensitivity, and realizes the multielement,in situ, on-line and real-time detection in harsh environmental condition or under thecondition of remote telemetry. More and more People begin to pay close attention toit. With the rapid development of laser technology and spectrum technology, the LIBStechnology gradually infiltrates into more and more application fields, and becomesvery active and promising field of study. In this work, based on LIBS technique detection for heavy metal element of thesolution, there is some specific issues, such as liquid splashing by the laser ablation, liquid surface oscillation phenomenon for influence of the stability of the plasma, thematrix effect restricting the limit of detection for the trace element of the solution andshorter plasma life-time and so on. Method based on the idea of liquid-to-solid matrixconversion, and the wood pellet after baking has stronger and rapid absorptionproperties for the heavy metal element of the liquid sample. Enrichment of heavymetal in Solution with wood pellet is put forward. By the wood drying waterreduction method and temporal-and spatial-resolved LIBS technology, measuringthe LIBS spectra of different concentration of standard solution, analyzing thestandard curve of Cr solution in the different focused condition. The Cr atomicresonance line425.43nm spectral lines as analytical spectral lines. Limit of detectionof the heavy metals Cr elements in the solution up to0.07ppm.In addition, in view of the heavy metal element content rapid detectionrequirements in the traditional Chinese medicinal materials, using time-resolved LIBStechnique. Samples of five Chinese medicinal materials were measured, such as fryalisma, zedoary, radix trichosanthis, gastrodia elata and Glabrous Greenbrier Rhizome, and the element composition has carried on the qualitative analysis. All in all, this paper has certain reference value for study of LIBS technique.
