As one of the most popular concepts in the fields of human resources and organizational behavior, employee engagement has been fully discussed by scholars and practitioners in recent years. It can not only brings individual job satisfaction and improve their performance, but also functions to leverage the organizational outcomes. So, whether or not an organization can effectively motivate their employees to enthusiastically engage in their jobs really counts.Based on the existing researches of employee engagement, job characteristics model and their relationships, this paper will elaborate why and how job characteristics factors effect on employee engagement. In the empirical part of this paper, we will examine the relationships between job characteristics factors and employee engagement. Through a comprehensive questionnaire survey among the employees of ten corporations in Hunan Province,370samples have been collected. The sophisticated statistical analysis by using SPSS software indicates that four of the job characteristics factors, task identity, feedbacks, job importance and autonamy, have positive effect on employee engagement.Last but not least, by integrating the theoretical analysis and empirical findings of the paper and by standing from the aspect of job redesigning, we generate four constructive suggestions in order to successfully improve employees’ engagement level.
