The science of complexity regards the complexity of nature and society as thecore. Its main research objects are complexity system, such as engineering, biologicalsystem, economic system, management system, social system, etc. It emphasizes weshould cognize and master research object according to things as they really are, andits big influence is agreed by people.This paper focuses on coal circular economy. Based on the basic theory ofcomplexity, entropy theory, and the theory of circular economy industrial chain, thecoal circular economy system is reviewed, and as a complex system, the circulareconomy system is discussed.From the point of entropy, an evaluation model is built, which evaluates thestructural complexity of circular economy system’s industrial chain based oncomplexity metric of entropy. The evaluation model contains five indexes: level ofcommunity, metabolic span, degree of node, number or relation and connectivity ofnode. The appraisal method of structural complexity of circular economy system’sindustrial chain is built after explaining the index, determining index complexity andestablishing the evaluating model.Meanwhile, the concept of environmental entropy of circular economy system is putforward based on the concept of information entropy. The environmental entropycontains two sections: environmental increasing entropyE增and environmentaldecreasing entroyE减, whileE增is a measure of disorder, which is caused by wasteproduced by circular economy system discharged to environment;E减is the degreeto which waste produced by circular economy system reduce disorder of environmentbecause of being utilized. The waste discharged to the environment is carbon, sulfurdioxide, dust, coal ash, slag, gangue and industrial effluents.On the basis of survey and analysis, this paper tries to utilize above-mentionedmodels to evaluate Tashan circular economy park of Datong Coal Mine Group andGujiao circular economy park of Xishan Coal-Electricity Group. Some measures thatoptimize structure of coal industry and reduce complexity of circular economy systemare put forward, on the basis of evaluation and analysis of results after evaluatingstructural complexity of industrial chain and environmental entropy of two circulareconomy systems.
