Research On The Sustainable Development In Xi’an City

In the background of economic globalization, the process of urban speed up oftenaccompanied with population explosion, shortage of resources, the ecological environmentcontinues to decline with “the big city sick" occur. Some cities pay the expense of theenvironment and resources for the pursuit of economic development road, and ignore thecity’s sustainable development, which lead to a series of environmental problems and socialeconomic problems. In June25,2009the state council promulgated "Guan zhong-Tian shuieconomic area development plan", puts forward the Xi’an to strive to create the developmentstrategic goals of the international metropolis;Thus, the government of Xi’an proposed toachieve the goal in2030. Lessons are drawn from others mistakes. As the western city whichecological environment and economy foundation is not dominant-Xi’an, in the future ofconstruction and development, how to take these experiences and lessons for reference widely,the great significance is of exploring and practicing the urban population, resources,environment and the balanced development of economic society and the sustainabledevelopment.The urban sustainable development is to point to the process of a city to continuouslypursue internal natural potential to realize, including the natural, economic, and social variousfactors of the interweavement process. Continuous depends on development, developmentcan continue. City must utilize natural resources rationally, control the size, scientific layout,long-term planning to achieve the economic, environmental benefits and social efficiencyunification.But the study of urban sustainable development which has big concerned rangeand more influence factors. Therefore, it is a challenge for researchers to the ability ofcontroling knowledge and solving problem.This article grasps the sustainable development of the basic idea, and take Xi’ansustainable development as an example mainly, extensive collection of a large amount ofdata,the relevant argument analysis is going with using SWOT analysis and PREE systemanalysis model.First, In this paper, the study of the theory of the urban sustainable development arereviewed and summarized systematically. In addition, through the field survey and datacollection, the SWOT analysis with the population, economy, resources and environmentstatus of Xi’an.Second, The author analyze Xi’an population, resources, environment and economy of the relationship among them by the econometrical model.The relations and influence degreeis clear that the above four aspects restrict each other through the PREE analysis. So it can beto measure the city’s sustainable development trend and comprehensive development level.Finally, Based on the above analysis, this article draws five conclusions from thepopulation, economy, resources and environment in xian city development situation and hascomprehensive analysis. And then, from the economic structure, development mode,infrastructure, urban population management, environmental protection and resourceutilization ratio, the author supply some suggestions for Xi’an sustainable development.Theanalysis methods and research results of this article can be useful for western region in futureurban sustainable development for reference.
