With the prosperity of the network and the continuous development of communication technology, multimedia is increasingly becoming an important information carrier. Evolved by the image, video frame is similar to the image in character while also owns its unique properties. In real life, multimedia brings convenience to people at the same time also brings trouble to people in the information security and copyright. Digital video watermarking technology has emerged to solve these problems and provides an effective solution. In this paper, linked with the latest coding standard H.264/AVC, we research on video watermarking technology. The main work of this paper is as follows:Firstly, the basic details of digital watermarking technology were studied, including the evaluation and classification of the watermark, and type of attack. On the basis of the video watermarking knowledge, the paper focused on the latest coding techniques H.264/AVC, analyzed and researched its coding principles and key technical which are ready for the next step of proposing new video watermarking algorithm.Secondly, a new watermarking framework based on a novel concept of half-visible watermark that watermark is invisible when video is playing and visible when video is paused was proposed. The technology platform for video watermarking method is simple and effective and owns the advantage of high real-time. The watermark can be intuitive visible that does not need another operation and equipment compared to the existed technology in advertising. Watermark has the characteristic of robustness and clarity, even after compression. The proposed watermarking framework has good scalability and everyone can embed mark into Y(or U or V)component or several of which according to requirement.Thirdly, an adaptive watermarking algorithm that makes use of FZDH is proposed, which introduced the concept of the block-based energy and variance. The adaptive method processes the block owning high energy and variance and the other blocks in different ways which achieves a better balance between robustness and invisibility.Lastly, a watermarking algorithm based on H.264/AVC is presented that information is hidden in the DCT domain. According to the H.264/AVC coding standard, the concept of quantizing distortion compensation is proposed to select the coefficients suitable for embedding a watermark in the4×4DCT blocks and then the parity of the number of nonezero coefficients is used to embed watermark. In the same time, the direction of modifying coefficient is considered. The method minimizes the modified magnitude of the coefficients in the block that ensures the quality of the video, and reduces the increasing amount of video bitrate.
