In order to meet the demand for high data rate as well as the lack of spectrum, low power base station (picocell, femtocell, etc.) are introduced in current macrocell to improve date rate and networks capacity. However, huge energy consumption of the entire information industry gradually become a hazard. According to statistics, mobile communications network accounts for5%of the total energy consumption, and base stations as the key devices are accounted for80%of the energy consumption of the mobile communication network. In addition, the issues of privacy and security in wireless communication have taken on an increasingly important role as networks continue to flourish worldwide. There are lots of limitations with traditional encryption algorithm. Therefore, energy-saving and security of base station are both focused in this paper.First, we propose a novel base station sleep scheme based on the density of picocell for heterogeneous network. According to the total coverage of picocell in a macrocell, we divide the network into three scenarios where picocell are deployed densely, sparely and commonly correspondingly. Then three approaches are represented for the situations above. In each approach, minimizing the system energy consumption and meeting the QoS requirements are both considered as our goal. Particularly, the offset value is used for the transmission power to guarantee blocking probability in the sleep area. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that our proposed scheme is much efficient than the other existing schemes in the terms of the power consumption and the blocking probability. Next, in order to protect the security of communication link, we have worked on the security oriented base station cooperation. The basic idea is to schedule downlink BS transmissions at the same time as concurrent uplink transmissions, so as to create intentional interference on possible eavesdroppers. Combined with the transmission power scheduling, improvements of security capacity is easily achieved. What’s more, time reversal technique is intended to be used for signal transmission when wireless channel state is stable. Compared to the conventional direct transmission using a Rake receiver, TR system reveals significant transmission power reduction, and security capacity.
