With the rapid development of science and technology in modern society, the number of enterprise-class server system has been growing upward linearly. Thus the work of the server administrator becomes much heavier. To increase server availability and reliability, it is necessary to consider server monitoring, network management technology and network security technologies as an effective integration. This is also the future development direction for server management technology. The paper comes from the actual needs from Dalian Kaiya Corporation Limited, designing and implementing an efficient, safe agent side of the auto-discovery server management system to reduce the burden on system administrators And it allows the administrator to monitor the server real time and network equipment operating status. Thereby when events happen. the administrator can solve the problem rapidly and avoid or reduce the losses caused by the failure event.firstly, the paper brings a brief introduction on the technology that agent uses, including SNMP, data encryption technology, SSL/TLS protocol, JMX framework, plug-in technology and general server management system. Then from the actual demand, this paper summarizes the main features of the agent end of the server monitoring system that needs to be achieved. It designs the overall framework and specific modules. The modules consist of metric data acquisition module, management-side communication module, configuration management module and event tracking module. By default scanning, file system scanning and runtime scanning, at the start agent loads the plug-ins. and then uses the plug-ins to auto-discovery resources. By implementing plug-ins for unique resource, agent collects metric data, organizes the metric report and sends it to the management end. At the end of this paper, it tests the main function of agent. Through open unified interface of the main program, loose coupling and reusability of the agent are achieved.
