Wireless sensor networks (WSN) converged the world of information andobjective physical, improve people’s the ability of understanding on the physicalworld and changed the way of human interaction with nature, is a hot field ofresearch in recent years. The routing protocol is the key problem on the researchof wireless sensor networks, compared with the traditional network, node energyis limited in wireless sensor network, and it is difficult to supplement. Butrouting protocol plays a vital role in the node energy consumption, thereforehigh efficiency energy is an important index to study the routing protocol.Opportunistic routing protocol is proposed, can improve the throughput andreliability of network transmission, but also facing challenges on reduce theenergy consumption of the network and node equilibrium consumption. Thisarticle is mainly study energy consumption in opportunistic routing protocols,design a energy balanced opportunistic routing EBOR.The article first introduces the knowledge of the wireless sensor networkrouting and its protocols, After that in-depth study of opportunistic routingprotocol, advantages, and the main facing problem. in this article, the focus ofanalysis is classic opportunistic routing protocol ExOR, analysis of keytechnologies the status of the nodes in the protocol, packet header format, batchready before sending, and the choice of candidate forwarding list and so on.Reach ExOR the problem of existing and need the place of improvement. Forthe design goals of this opportunistic routing protocols, improvements based onExOR. Face of the choice of candidate node forwarding set, considering the twofactors of the expected transmission times ETX and residual energy RE,proposes a routing metric EC, this metric can reduce the node energyconsumption and balance network energy consumption of all the nodes, andgives a selection algorithm of calculated a candidate node set, making theoptimization of candidate forwarding node number. In the design of candidateforwarding node coordination mechanism, to improve the success rate ofcoordination by packet sequence list PSL, reduce the incidence of re-package, thereby increasing the throughput of the network.Finally, add opportunities routing protocol to the NS-2simulation softwareEBOR and simulation experiment. The results show that, compared toopportunistic routing protocol ExOR, from a certain extent the EBOR agreementto prolong the life time of the network, the node energy balancing consumption,at the same time has been some improvement in the throughput of the network.
