With the development of wireless communication technology, various kinds ofcommunication technique comprehensive used in the filed of military, industrial andsocial life. Wireless communication technology is developing in the direction ofmulti-standard reconfigurable, low cost, low power and high performance. Thatmakes the research of Ultra-wide Band (UWB) wireless communication technologywhich has some advantages such as very high rate, low power, low cost have someresearch meanings. Current–mode circuits for its low voltage, wide frequency bandand high dynamic range makes it very fit for the high performance design of UWBradio frequency front-end integrated circuit.This paper mainly pay attention to the research and design of up-conversionmixer and power amplifier circuits, and summarize the related works of domestic andoverseas. At the last, A UWB3.1~10.6GHz up-conversion mixer and power amplifiercircuits by using current-mode approach is proposed, the concrete work is as follows:A UWB3.1~10.6GHz current-mode up-mixer implemented in0.18μm COMSprocess for UWB transmitter. The mixer is based on traditional Gilbert cell, thetrans-conductance circuit is replaced by a current mirror. The high linearity isachieved through the use of current-mirror instead of voltage-mode trans-conductancestage and the current bleeding technique. The reasonable noise figure and appropriateconversion gain performance are achieved by inserting a LC network at commonsource node of the switches stage and adopting inductance peaking technique. Fromthe simulated results, the proposed up-mixer achieves conversion gain of5±1.5dB, theIIP3of5.3~14.75dBm and power consumption of4.6mW at1.2V power supply.A low power high linearity UWB power amplifier is proposed in the paper. Thepower amplifier consists of drive stage circuit and power output stage circuit, thedrive stage can received the current signal by adopting current mirror, and the highand flat gain is get by using current-reused technique. The power output stage belongsto class-A amplifier, and the output matching network use π type matching network, ithas high linearity and output matching performance. From the simulated results, theproposed power amplifier achieves output power of-3dBm, the power gain of16~18dB, the PAE of17%,1dB compress point of-12dBm, S11and S22are less than-8.5dB and-10dB respectively, the power consumption of11mW at1.2Vpower supply.
