With the rapid development of multimedia and network technologies, all kindsof digital contents are distributed and shared over the Internet widely, this has bringa great convenience to the life of people, but at the same time, piracy becomesincreasingly rampant as the dishonest customer can easily duplicate, modify andredistribute the digital content to a large audience illegally. As a new efficienttechnology for protecting digital copyright developed in recent years, digitalfingerprinting achieves copyright protecting and piracy tracing by embedding aunique serial number into each distributed digital copy secretly. When found illegalcopy, by drawing the fingerprinting sequence information from the copy, andcompared with fingerprinting sequence from the fingerprinting database, then catchthe pirates and punished, maintain the legitimate interests of the vendor. Thisdissertation combines cryptography, digital watermarking, image processing, signaldetection and coding theory to systematically study digital fingerprinting technology. The main work and contributions of this dissertation are as follows:(1) In order to resist against the multiuser collusion attack, the most effectiveway is to design a suitable anti-collusion code and use each codeword of theanti-collusion code to represent a customer’s fingerprint. After comparing andanalyzing the existing anti-collusion codes, we propose an IPP code basedanti-collusion code.(2) To reduce the merchant’s burden and the bandwidth requirement, weproposed two efficient schemes for distributing the fingerprinted copies. In ourschemes, the merchant transmits a single encrypted digital copy to multiple customersusing multicast, and the generation process of the fingerprinted copy is completed atthe client side by decrypting, which can reduce the merchant’s burden and thecommunication cost.
